Mobile Touch-Up & Paint Chip Repair in the Capital Region

Those little rock chips on your hood and bumper? We fill them, color-match them, and seal them before they rust — at your home, in your own driveway, garage, or carport, across Albany, Saratoga Springs, Schenectady, and Troy. Mobile, exterior-only, done right where you park.

What paint chip repair is

A rock chip is a small spot where a stone or road debris has knocked the paint clean off — sometimes down to bare metal. Car paint chip repair is the careful job of filling that spot back in, matching your color, and sealing it so it stops spreading and blends into the panel. It's not polishing and it's not a respray; it's targeted repair of the chips and stone chips you notice every time you walk up to the car.

Here's why it matters in the Capital Region: our winters are hard on paint. Sand and road salt on I-87 and the Northway turn every commute into a sandblaster, and once a chip reaches metal, salt and moisture start it rusting. A chip you fix this spring is a chip that never becomes a rust blister — or a repaint — next year.

How we fix a chip

Five steps, every time — no shortcuts, no thick blob of mismatched paint.

  1. 01

    Assess

We look at each chip — how deep it goes, whether it's reached metal, and whether rust has started. Then we tell you honestly what a repair will and won't do.

  2. 02

    Color-match

We match to your factory paint code (usually on a door-jamb sticker) so the fill blends with the panel around it, not a guessed-at shade.

  3. 03

    Fill

We clean the chip, treat any surface rust, and build the paint back up in thin layers so it sits level with the surrounding clear coat.

  4. 04

    Level

Once it's cured, we level and polish the spot so it catches light like the rest of the panel instead of standing proud.

  5. 05

    Protect

We seal the repair so it holds up to weather and washing — and it pairs perfectly with a ceramic coating if you want the whole car protected.

What it costs

Paint chip repair is priced per car. The price depends on how many chips you have and where they sit on the car, so we quote it upfront — after a quick look in person or a clear photo. No surprises.

What we fix — and what we don't

We fix small paint chips and rock chips — the kind that come from gravel, road debris, and parking-lot dings. That's our lane, and we're good at it.

What we don't do: full resprays, large body or collision damage, or dents. That's body-shop work, and we'll say so plainly instead of selling you a repair that won't hold up. For swirl marks and dull paint across a whole panel, that's paint correction — a different job, also something we do.

A service most detailers skip

Filling and color-matching chips is slow, fussy work, and plenty of detailers won't touch it — they'll send you to a body shop for a job that costs many times more. We built it into what we offer because it's the single best-value thing you can do for daily-driven Capital Region paint: a small repair today instead of rust and a repaint later.

Before You Book

Please arrive freshly washed. A standard automatic wash — Hoffman Car Wash, for example — is enough. We're exterior and paint protection specialists; we don't perform interior cleaning. Door jambs are handled as part of ceramic prep.

Common Questions

What's the difference between paint chip repair and touch-up paint?

Touch-up paint is the colored paint itself. Chip repair is the full process — cleaning the chip, matching your exact color code, filling it in thin layers, leveling, and sealing — so it lasts and blends, instead of a thick dab that stands out.

Will the chip be invisible afterward?

From a step back, it disappears. Up close, a repaired chip is dramatically less visible but not a factory respray — and we're straight about that before we start. If you want a flawless full-panel finish, that's a body-shop respray, not a chip repair.

Can you fix a chip that's already started to rust?

Usually, yes — if it's surface rust, we remove it, treat the spot, then fill and seal. Left alone, a chip keeps rusting and spreads under the paint, which is exactly why catching it early matters after a Capital Region winter.

Do you repair dents or collision damage?

No. We handle small paint chips and rock chips. Dents, creased panels, and collision damage are body-shop work, and we'll tell you that honestly rather than take a job we can't do right.

Can you match my car's color?

Yes. We match to your factory paint code — usually printed on a sticker in the driver's door jamb — so the repair blends with the surrounding panel.

Does my car need to be washed first?

Yes. Please arrive freshly washed; a standard automatic wash is enough. A clean surface lets us see every chip and get a clean repair.
